CPP congratulates Aliu and Mumuni

Tamale, Sept. 29, GNA – The Northern Region branch of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) on Wednesday extended a message of congratulation to Alhaji Aliu Mahama and Alhaji Mohamma Mumuni on their nomination as Presidential running mates of President John Agyekum Kufuor of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Professor John Evans Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the for Election 2004.

Speaking to the GNA in Tamale, Mr Albert Atutiga, Northern Regional Organizer of the Party said: “CPP wishes the two presidential running mates well in the political arena and urged them to contribute their quota towards violence-free elections in December.”

“CPP also commends President Kufuor and former Vice President Mills for the confidence they reposed in their running mates by choosing them for the December elections” Mr Atutiga said.

The CPP Regional Organizer said the two Alhajis being Dagombas would bring their experiences to bear and help seek lasting solution to the Dagbon problem once and for all and urged all Dagombas to welcome their nominations and regard them as a blessing, which would unite them rather than divide them.

Mr Atutiga also expressed sadness on Alhaji Mumuni’s accident and wished him a speedy recovery so that he could join them on the political war field to make Ghanaian politics more interesting. He appealed to NDC members to take what had had happened to Alhaji Mumuni as the result of one of the many road accidents in Ghana and not to attribute it to any ill motive by any group for political gain.
