CPP commences selection of parliamentary candidates in Northern Region

Tamale, Aug. 24, GNA – The Northern Regional Executive of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has started selecting parliamentary candidates to contest in the 25 constituencies in the Region. Mr Albert Atutiga, Acting Northern Sector Chairman of the Party, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Tamale that, the Party started the process last week and that six candidates had been selected.

He gave the names as Dr Abubakar Al-Hassan, a Retired Lecturer of the University of Ghana, Legon, for Tamale South; Dr Gamel Adam Nasser, a Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, for the Tamale Central and Mr Bashiru Dabali, a retired Broadcaster, for the Tamale North.

The rest are; Mr Alibira Adam, Educationist, for Mion Constituency, while Mr Sampson Salifu Hussein, an Auditor, was elected for the Tolon and Mr Mohammed Imoro, a Teacher, for Kumbungu constituencies.

Mr Atutiga said the selection was ongoing and gave the assurance that the Party would complete the selection next week.

He said CPP was going to shock Ghanaians by winning the 2004 elections saying: “The NPP has woefully failed to meet the expectations of Ghanaians and the only alternative Party is the CPP.”
