CPP Chairman says bad elements should be smoked-out

Elmina, July 17, GNA – The National Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Mr. Ladi Nylander, on Saturday described some elements in the party as “nation wreckers” who are not seeking the betterment of the CPP.

Such people should be smoked out, he declared and expressed optimism that the CPP could come out victorious in 2012 if it remained focused and worked harder than before.

Mr Nylander, who is seeking re-election, expressed these sentiments at Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) constituency executives’ election at Elmina but did not mention names of such elements.

The election preceded that of the Regional executives, which had been scheduled for Wednesday, July 20 at Saltpond.

The newly elected KEEA constituency executives, declared by popular acclamation were Mr. Joseph Edwin Amoa-Mensah, Chairman; Mr. Stephen Kwame Quayson, First Vice-Chairman; Nanabanyin Ofori Datsir, Second Vice-Chairman; Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Moses, Secretary; Mr. Ahmed Sulley Yawson, Treasurer.

The rest were Mr. Robert Ewusie-Aikins, Organizer; Miss. Mercy Baidoo, Women’s Organizer; Mr. Baidoo Amoah, Youth Organizer; and Mr. Benjamin Dzantoh, Education Secretary.

The 2008 Flagbearer of the Party, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, also assured party members and Ghanaians that the CPP would win the 2012 general elections. He, however, admitted that “victory will not come easily”.

He said all members and sympathizers should therefore hold fast and fight hard to achieve success and called on electorates to vote the Party into power.

The Central Regional Chairman of the CPP, Mr. Kwame Adu Ansah, advised party members not to be selfish but rather be disciplined and remained united, adding that that was the only way to keep a party progressing.

He said the Regional Executives would embark on a project dubbed: “Operation Bring Central Region back to CPP” where they will ensure the CPP wins all Parliamentary seats in the Region.

Representatives from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the NPP in their solidarity messages called on the CPP to be united to ensure lasting peace in the country.
