CPP calls for conscientious building for national development

Accra, Sept. 20, GNA- The Convention People’s Party (CPP) on Saturday called on the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to initiate dialogue with the opposition parties for national development. “It is almost three years since NPP came to power and we all recall the decisive role the other minority parties played in ensuring the victory of President J. A. Kufuor in the presidential runoff”. Dr Al Hassan Abubarkar, the Outgoing National Chairman of the CPP was addressing delegates at the second National Delegates Congress in Accra.

“It is indeed regrettable that the NPP seems to have forgotten the crucial contribution we made towards its elections victory and throughout the three years of its tenure in office, it has not found it necessary to seek our opinion on important issues of national concern. “We recognise the fact that the NPP is the party in government and has the mandate of the people, we only wish to reiterate that one of the hallmarks of democracy is extensive consultations”, he said. Dr Abubarkar accused the government of repeating the same mistakes that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) did when it was in power.
