CPP begins vetting of presidential aspirants

The Convention Peoples Party has started vetting its presidential aspirants ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

Presidential aspirants being vetted include former party Chairperson Samia Yaba Nkrumah, Joseph Agyapong, former presidential aspirant, Bright Akwetey and former General Secretary, Ivor Greenstreet.

The vetting which started on Wednesday will run till Friday.

Meanwhile, Dr Onzy Nathan Nkrumah, one of the sons of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who had wanted to also file to contest has been disqualified after he failed to meet the requirements.

“Onzy Nkrumah, the party was unable to accept his nomination forms because he could not comply with the rules. The rule was that when you to file, you must either bring your money in cash or through a banker’s draft…unfortunately, he presented a cheque and then it was against the rule,” Communication Director of the party, Kadri Abdul Rauf Issifu explained.
