CPP appoints acting General Secretary and Youth Organiser

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has appointed Asani Tano, the deputy General Secretary in charge of Administration as the Acting General Secretary whilst Nabila Basiru the current deputy Youth Organiser is to assume the position as the Acting Youth Organiser of the party.

A statement signed by the National Chairman of the party, Prof Edmund N. Delle which was released on Thursday, July 7 said the new arrangement “takes effect immediately until further notice”.

It will be recalled that the CPP’s Youth Organiser Ernesto Yeboah and General Secretary Nii Armah Akomfrah were recently suspended indefinitely by the party.

The decision was taken at a Central Committee meeting on Thursday, June 30, where the two were cited for publicly chastising and humiliating the flagbearer Ivor Kobina Greenstreet in the media.

The party argued that Mr Yeboah and Mr Akomfrah had brought the party’s name into disrepute, and have, therefore, been referred to the disciplinary committee for further action.
