Tema, June 28, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘A’ has remanded into custody a 27-year-old man who was alleged to have stolen four cows valued at 15 million cedis.
Sulley Ahonedu, a farmer pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on July 20, 2004.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Sarah Aggrey Acquah told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that during the early part of 2004, the complainant who lives at Katamanso moved his animals to Odunsey village for grazing.
She said about three weeks ago, the complainant, because of good rains, brought the animals back to Katamanso, and on their arrival, he made a head count only to detect that four of his cows valued at 15 million cedis were missing.
The complainant quickly organised a search party to look for the animals, and in the course of their efforts to trace the animals, a man informed him that he saw the accused driving the missing cows towards another village and handed them to one Ibrahim, now at large, who had sold them to an unknown persons.
Chief Inspector Acquah said a report was made to the police and the man was arrested, and after investigations, charged with the offence.
