Accra, Oct. 21, GNA – Six actions, motions and applications in respect of Election 2004, which were pending in the courts have been heard and disposed of, the Chief Registrar said on Thursday.
Mr Seidu B. Issaka, Chief Registrar of the Judicial Service, told the GNA on Thursday, that there was no case on adjournment, no fresh motions had been filed and none of the contestants had appealed against any of the Courts’ decisions.
As at 12 noon on Thursday, the last two cases were heard and determined.
This is a follow-up to the directive of the Chief Justice, Mr Justice George Kingsley Acquah that all cases, which were pending before the courts that were related to the December polls be heard and ruling on them made by Thursday, October 14.
The Chief Justice also directed the Chief Registrar to ensure that all actions, motions and applications concerning elections, which were pending in the Courts, be expeditiously heard and decisions taken by October 14.
Based on this, the respective registrars of the courts that were trying the cases were urged by Mr Justice Acquah to issue hearing notices for such cases to be heard not later than October 11. The October 11 date was to enable the judges deliver their judgements or rulings latest by October 14.
