COURT TO HEAR NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY CANDIDATE’S SUIT ON ELECTION RESULTS

The petition before the High Court in Accra, in which the National Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidate in last December’s elections, Mr.. George Amoo, is challenging the results of the polls at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in Accra has been adjourned to Wednesday 15th October. Mr.. Amoo is asking the Court, presided over by Mrs.. Agnes Dordzie, to quash the results declaring the NDC candidate, Mrs.. Rebecca Adotey, as the winner and the MP for the constituency. The petitioner is also asking the court to compel the Electoral Commission to collate the results of the actual votes cast in favour of each of the contestants and declare as the winner the candidate to whom most votes were cast out the elections. According to Mr.. Amoo’s affidavit, on the day of elections, over 300 votes which should have gone to him were erroneously credited to other candidates. End
