Court slaps five million cedis fine on driver

Accra May 24, GNA- A driver whose reckless driving led to the death of one person and injured four others was on Tuesday fined five million cedis by a Circuit Court in Accra. Rexford Brobbey Dadzie pleaded guilty to reckless driving and was convicted accordingly.

The facts as presented by Police Chief Inspector Ben Darfour were that on September 18, last year, at about 1700 hours, Dadzie was driving his private car in Accra and on reaching a section of the road near former Star Hotel, Dadzie made an overtaking without observing the traffic light from the opposite direction and collided with another vehicle. Prosecution said Obed Boateng Pupulampu, 24, died instantly while four others sustained various degrees of injuries.
