Kumasi, Jan 6, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court on Monday sentenced Michael Lambert, 18, to nine months imprisonment with hard labour for attempting to attack and rob holidaymakers at the Caf=E9 Spice in Kumasi on December 31, last year.

Lambert, who pleaded not guilty was said to be in possession of two daggers at the time of his arrest.

Chief Inspector Joseph Tetteh Odigya told the court that being conscious of the activities of criminal groups who had been operating in the metropolis for sometime now, the management of the night club stepped up security at the place that night to ward off any attack on its patrons.

He said in compliance with directives from Mr Ernest Dankwah, owner of the night club therefore, all those who entered the nightclub were searched.

Chief Inspector Odigya said when Lambert got there and was to be searched he resisted and this attracted suspicion from the security men. When he was searched the two daggers were found on him and was handed over to the police.
