Court sentences mechanic to five years imprisonment

Juaso (Ash), Aug 11, GNA – A mechanic who stole a motorbike belonging to an employee of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Juaso circuit court. Kwaku Dadzie pleaded guilty to the charge.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) P.S.K. Osae told the court, presided over by Mr Jacob B. Boon that on March 15, this year, an employee of the COCOBOD sent his motorbike to Dadzie who has his workshop at Konongo for repairs.

He said all efforts by the complainant to take back his motorbike proved futile, as the accused was always absent at his workshop anytime the complainant went there. ASP Osae said on July 25, this year, the accused got involved in an accident case and was arrested by the police and so the complainant upon hearing of his arrest, lodged a complaint to the police. He said during interrogation, Dadzie told the police that he sold the motorbike to an unknown person in Kumasi for 1.6 million cedis and he was charged with the offence.
