Court sentences man to prison for possessing human bones

Nyinahin (Ash), Feb. 2, GNA – The Nyinahin magistrate court on Monday sentenced a man to two years imprisonment for possessing human bones and a skull. Kofi Ababio pleaded guilty to the charge.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Francis Ofori told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nkrumah that, on January 2 this year, police at the Mpasatia revenue checkpoint in the Atwima-Mponua District saw the accused crossing the barrier.

He said, when the police tried to know what was contained in the suitcase he was carrying, Ababio took to his heels. Chief Inspector Ofori said he was, however, given a hot chase and with the help of other people around, he was arrested. The prosecution said when the suitcase was opened, police found human bones and a skull in it and after interrogation, Ababio was charged.
