Court sentences labourer to GH¢720.00 fine for theft

The Nyinahin Magistrate Court presided over by Mr. Sam Nibi, has ordered a labourer, arrested by the police for burglary, to pay a fine of GH¢720.00.

George Kwarteng would serve four months imprisonment in default.

He broke into the room of a trader, Madam Abena Serwaah, at Nyinahin in the Atwima-Mponua District and stole GH¢150.00, a cellular phone and a pair of slippers.

Police Inspector Sampson Cobbinah told the court that the crime was committed about five months ago.

He said on June 28, at about 1300 hours, the complainant spotted a young woman at Kyereyaaso-Nkwanta, a suburb of Nyinahin, in the stolen slippers.

She confronted her and she told her one Adwoa Sah, a girlfriend of the convict, sold the footwear to her.

The prosecution said Sah was arrested and she gave out Kwarteng.
