Court sentences farm labourer for abducting a three-year -old girl

Goaso (B/A), Oct. 5, GNA – The Goaso Circuit Court presided over by Mr Osei Kwame Gyamfi, has sentenced a 35-year-old labourer Imoro Adams Banda to 10 years imprisonment for abducting a three-year-old girl at Sankore in the Asunafo South District.

The prosecutor, Police Inspector Stephen Frimpong told the court that the complainant, an auto mechanic and father of the victim stayed at Sankore whilst the convict a farm labourer resided at Motopeneso near Sankore.

Prosecution said on August 13, the victim and her brother were playing outside their house when the convict appeared and called her. The convict held the victim firmly, covered her mouth and carried her to the bush. Inspector Frimpong said the victim’s brother raised the alarm that attracted their mother to the scene who yelled for help. He said a search party went to the forest and spotted the convict running with the child and gave him a chase and arrested him. Inspector Frimpong said during police interrogation the convict confessed he took the child under the influence of alcohol. 5 Oct. 10
