Court sentences driver to GH¢1,500.00

A Kumawu Circuit Court, presided over by Mr. Abdul Yusif Osei Asibey, has sentenced a driver to a fine of GH¢1,500.00 for careless driving.

The court handed down the punishment to Gibril Diawuo after he pleaded guilty to the offence.

He had without due care, knocked down a pedestrian, Kofi Oduro, with his car at Kumawu.

Police Chief Inspector Paul Kludze said the incident happened on February 26, last year, at about 1400 hours.

He added that, the victim later died of his injuries at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) where he was on admission – receiving treatment.

The court advised the family of the deceased to file a civil suit for compensation or insurance claim.
