Court sentences 57-year-old man to 22 years

Kumasi, Oct 13, GNA – A Kumasi circuit court on Monday sentenced a 57-year-old farmer at Atimatim in the Kwabre District to 22 years imprisonment for defiling a nine-year-old girl. Yaw Owusu pleaded guilty to the charge.

Police Chief Inspector J.K. Odjidja told the court that on August 4, 2004, Owusu invited the girl to accompany him to his farm where he defiled her. He said some passers-by caught Owusu in the act but he fled sent into hiding and was arrested a month later. 13 Oct 04
