Court rules for the reinstatement of suspended Lawyer Lecturer

The license of Hansen Kodwo Koduah a Kumasi-based legal practitioner and a law lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is to be reinstated.

A Court of Appeal presided over by Justice F.G. Korbieh, stays the June 9, 2016 decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council that withdrew the license of the legal practitioner for 3 years.

It follows an allegation that Lawyer Hansen Kodwo Koduah duped his client to the tune of GHC 50,000 claiming it was meant for filing fees when the actual amount required was GHC748.

A statement from the Council noted that, Lawyer Koduah was formally charged under Rule 9(8) of the Legal Profession Rules, 1969 L.I. 613 and sanctioned accordingly.

But the Appeals Court has stayed the June 9, 2016 decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council and therefore means that until the court determines whether or not the action taken by the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council was in accordance to law or not, lawyer Hanson Kwadwo Koduah would continue to practice as a fully qualified lawyer
