Court remands used tyres thief

A Tarkwa circuit court has remanded a 20-year-old man, Obed Dorbachne, for stealing four used tyres belonging to Goldfields Ghana Limited Tarkwa mine.

He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on May 15.

Police Chief Inspector Florence Tawiah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that on May 5, security men of the company spotted the accused and another now at large in a bush at the company’s south plant near a tyre bay.

Inspector Tawiah said when the security officers tried to confront them the other man bolted and the accused was arrested, a search in the bush revealed four used tyres.

She said the accused stated that on May 4, he was invited by his associate to go and steal the used tyres, and while they were about to convey them, the security officers arrested him.**
