Court remands unemployed in custody for threat

Ejisu (Ash), July 14, GNA – A 27 year old unemployed, Augustus Owusu Donyina was on Monday, remanded in prison custody by the Ejisu magistrate court for threatening his mother and causing harm. He pleaded guilty and would re-appear on 15th July, 2004. Police Chief Inspector Ofori Takyi told the court that on 6th July, 2004 at about 12 noon, the accused went to a site his mother Maame Asantewaa was building a house.

He said the accused asked her mother why she did not give him the money she was using for the building.

Chief Inspector Takyi said Maame Asanaatewaa told the accused that the house would be his property in future.

He said, the answer did not go down well with the accused who got very angry and started destroying blocks and a plantain plant at the site and damaged a barrel containing water for the work. Chief Inspector Takyi said that the following day the accused went to his mother and told her that she was lucky she ran away otherwise he would have killed her.

Fearing for her life Maame Asantewaa reported her son to the police who arrested him and after interrogation arraigned him before the court.
