Court remands two teenagers for inflicting wounds on colleague

Kumasi, Sept. 26, GNA – Two under-age girls, who inflicted razor blade wounds on a student have7been remanded into juvenile remand home.

Sixteen-year old Sandra Amankwah, student, and Evelyn Osei-Kwadwo, a 15-year old apprentice hairdresser, face charges of causing harm and abetment of crime.

They pleaded guilty and would re-appear on October 11.

The court deferred the punishment of the two to allow for verification of their correct ages.

Police Superintendent Moses Atibillah told the court presided over by Justice William Boampong that the complainant, Rose Agyekum and Sandra, are friends.

For some time now their relationship has been cold following a misunderstanding that nearly resulted in a fight on August 6.

The prosecution said days later, Sandra met Rose, returning home with a bucket of water and without provocation started raining insults on her.

She responded, degenerating into a fight.

Evelyn who was at the spot assisted Sandra, who was armed with a razor blade to inflict the wounds on the cheeks, breast and the right hand of Rose.

The complainant managed to free herself and was rushed to hospital for treatment.

A formal report was made to the Old Tafo Police but the two went into hiding until their arrest from their hideout on September 7.
