Court remands two fraudsters in police custody

The Bibiani circuit court on Friday remanded two swindlers who defrauded over 30 prospective students of the Sefwi-Wiawso Health Assistants Training School thousands of Ghana Cedis.

They were provisionally charged for fraud, forgery of official documents and conspiracy to commit crime.

The two accused pleaded not guilty and would re-appear in court on September 22.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Raymond Kofi Erzuah told the court presided over Mr Emmanuel Ankamah that, the accused Prince Kofi Boabeng and Albert Kobbi-Sam are workers at the school.

He said they forged the signature of the principal of the school and issued fake admission forms to unsuspecting applicants for charges ranging between GH¢800 and GH¢1,000.

DSP Erzuah said the accused then gave fake registration numbers to their victims and gave the bank account numbers of the school into which non-refundable admission fees were paid.

He said investigations are underway to arrest the third accomplice Nana Owusu.
