Court remands two armed robbers

Tarkwa, Sept 20, GNA – A Tarkwa Circuit Court has remanded into prison custody, Solomon Blay, a phone card vendor, 29 and Prince Antwi, driver, 22, for robbing Bredick George B. Camp, an expatriate at Tarkwa, at gunpoint.

Both pleaded not guilty and will re-appear court on September 28.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo, that the complainant, Mr Camp, resides at Tamso Estate and the accused Blay and Antwi lived at Tamso and Dompim, respectively.

He said on January one, the accused persons at about 0045 hours, attacked the complainant and his wife at their bungalow and robbed them of valuable items such as assorted jewellery of different precious minerals and stones, a number of electronic gadgets, including computers, cell phones and I-pads, eight pairs of spectacles, cash of $5,000 dollars and GHC600.

According to Detective Amponsah, on August 10, at about 0200 hours, the accused persons with two others, now at large, attempted robbing a resident at Takoradi and were arrested by the Police.

He said during a search in the first accused person’s room at Tamso, the Police retrieved two long Sony speakers together with two small Sony speakers which the complainant identified as part of his property stolen by the robbers on January one.

The Prosecutor said the Blay during interrogation claimed the said speakers were given to him by one of the robbers who are on the run.
