Court remands thief for stealing personal property

Ajumako (C/R), May 16, GNA – A District Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Kwesi Boakye Enimil at Ajumako in the Central Region has remanded Kwabena Akonni, 29, in prison custody to reappear on June 8.

Akonni also known as Razak pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing personal property including one compact lap-top and mobile phone valued GH¢600.

The facts as presented by Police Chief Inspector Ben Billy Amenuke were that the complainant Mr Thomas Ackon based in Tarkwa arrived at Besease on May 8, from a funeral.

While Ackon was asleep in front of his room at 0300 hours, Razak allegedly sneaked into his bedroom and stole the items.

Ackon informed the police of the theft leading to the arrest of Razak, who in the company of one Charles Nssuah, a mechanic, managed to board a Breman Asikuma-Accra bound commercial vehicle with the items.

Chief Inspector Amenuke said luck eluded them, when the vehicle was intercepted and checked by policemen on duty at Besease, who discovered the stolen items.
