Court remands swindler

A Kumasi Circuit Court has remanded into prison custody, a taxi driver for swindling two sales representatives of the Kinapharma Company Limited.

George Osei Ahoto had convinced his victims to supply him (suspect) 300 cartons of “Healthy Life Drinks”, a fruit drink, valued at over Gh¢3,000.00.

The plea of Akoto has not been taken and he would re-appear on Monday, January 7.

Police Inspector Gulliver Tenkorang told the court presided over by Justice William Boampong that the suspect lives at Sepe-Timpom in Kumasi.

He mentioned Odeefuo Boa Amponsem and Elvis Appiah-Kubi as the complainants.

Chief Insp. Tenkorang said when the complainants went to Atonsu, a suburb of Kumasi to supply products of the company to customers, Ahoto, who posed as a shop owner, approached them and initiated business links with them.

The suspect persuaded the sales representatives to supply him with 300 cartons of the fruit drinks on credit, and promised to pay in installment.

Ahoto after collecting the products went into hiding until he was spotted at Anwiam on Boxing Day by Amponsem, who raised the alarm and was arrested.
