Court remands scraps dealer over narcotics

An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Awale Moro, a scraps dealer into Police custody for allegedly possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority.
The accused person, who pleaded not guilty, would reappeart on March, 29.

Prosecuting, Superintendent of Police Kweku Bempah told the Court that on March 10, the Divisional Police Command had a tip off that the accused person was dealing in narcotic drugs at Kantamanto.

He said a team of Police men were deployed to the scene and the accused person was arrested in his wooden structure ‘apartment’ at Kantamanto, a suburb of Nungua.

“When the room was searched in his presence, nine ‘wraps’ and a quantity of dried leaves, all suspected to be narcotic drugs were retrieved, with GH¢82.00 concealed in an open hole in the plywood of the structure,” he said.
