Court remands sacked student in custody

Nkawie (Ash), Aug 19, GNA – The Atwima District Court at Nkawie has remanded in prison custody an 18-year-old student dismissed from the Toase Secondary School for stealing.

Francis Darkwa was charged with stealing the personal belongings of another student valued at about 500,000 cedis.

He pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on August 21.

Police Inspector Ben Antwi told the court that there had been a series of stealing cases on the campus of the Toase Secondary School and so the school authorities asked the students to be vigilant. He said at about 1900 hours on August 12, Darkwa was found in one of the boy’s dormitories carrying a trunk belonging to one of the students.

Inspector Antwi said the students, therefore, raised the alarm and Darkwa was arrested and handed over to the Nkawie Police.
