Court remands pensioner for attempted murder

A 63-year-old pensioner has been arrested by the police at Bibiani for alleged attempted murder.

Oscar Kwame Donkor is said to have shot and injured a taxi driver in the shoulder with a single barreled gun.

He was put before the Bibiani Magistrate Court on Wednesday and was remanded into prison custody.

His plea was not taken and would re-appear on Monday, September 24.

Police Detective Chief Inspector Mike Agbaglo told the court presided over by Mr. Osei Kofi Amoako, that both the accused and the complainant, Kofi Gyapong, live at the Bibiani Estate.

Relations between them had been cold.

He said on August 5, at about 0630 hours, Gyapong came out of his room and was cleaning his teeth when Donkor shot at him through a window.

The bullets hit him in the shoulder and he fell to the ground.

The prosecution said Gyapong was rushed to the Bibiani Government Hospital and later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

Donkor handed himself in to the police with the gun and one cartridge.
