Court remands Nigerian for attempted robbery

Koforidua, June 18, GNA – Onyeogane Hosea, an unemployed Nigerian, was on Friday remanded into prison custody by a Koforidua Circuit Court for attempted robbery.

Hosea who pleaded not guilty would re-appear on June 27. Prosecuting Principal State Attorney, Mrs Emily Addo-Kyere told the court presided over by Mrs Barbara Tetteh-Charway that the complainant is a taxi driver who resides at Old Estates in Koforidua whilst Hosea lives at Zongo, a suburb of the town.

She said at about 2100 hours on June 11, the complainant who was driving his taxi got to El-Shadai junction where Hosea pulled a sharp knife on him in the bid to take the car away. Mrs Addo-Kyere said the complainant struggled with the accused who was holding the back of his neck.

She said Hosea stabbed the driver on his wrist and his shout for help attracted people in the neighbourhood who managed to arrest him and handed him over to the police. She said Hosea admitted the offence and was charged accordingly.
