Court remands Land administrator for defilement

A 36- year- old land administrator at Abeka who inserted his fingers into the vagina of his 15- year- old niece and had sexual intercourse with her on Monday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Elliot Nii Yartey Boye, the accused has been charged for defiling a child under 16 years of age contrary to section 101 (2) of Act 29/60.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded into prison custody to re-appear on March 20.

The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector I.A.A Ahor presenting the facts of the case said the victim who is a student stays with the mother who is the complainant in the matter.

He said Boye lives in the same house with the victim who runs errands for him.

Chief Inspector Ahor said on the morning of March 4, the accused was in his room when he sent for the victim.

He said when the victim attended the call, the accused engaged her in a conversation and in the process he inserted his fingers into the victim’s vagina and had sexual intercourse with her.

Chief Inspector Ahor said after the act, the accused warned the victim not to disclose it to anybody.

He said the next day the victim went to school and informed her teacher about it. He said the victim’s mother was invited and she was also informed.

Chief Inspector Ahor said a complaint was made to the Police DOVVSU and the victim was issued with a Police medical form to attend hospital for treatment.

He said the accused was later arrested and after investigations he was charged with the offence.
