Court remands hunter for murder

Kuntanase (Ash), Aug. 24, GNA – The Magistrate Court at Kuntanase on Thursday remanded a 45-year-old hunter in prison custody for allegedly shooting and killing another hunter during a hunting expedition.

Kofi Yeboah pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on August 26. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edward Osei told the court that Yeboah and Yakubu Krama, the deceased, all lived at Brodekwano in the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District of Ashanti.

He said sometime in April this year, the suspect asked one Anokye Kofi who was a friend of both Yeboah and Krama to tell the deceased to stop hunting for game in his hunting territory and that the deceased had killed a deer in his territory.

Chief Insp Osei said on May 27, 2004, Krama got missing after the community had undertaken a communal labour and four days later, a search party discovered the decomposed body of the deceased in the bush with his gun beside him.

He said the family without an autopsy buried the body because it was decomposing.

The prosecutor said Yeboah was arrested and had been provisionally charged with the crime because he had threatened the deceased.
