Court remands housewife for murder

Nkawie (Ash), Oct. 20, GNA – A magistrate’s court at Nkawie on Monday remanded a 50-year-old housewife standing trial for murder for one month.

Amma Nyarko alias Dede was alleged to have a given a 37-year-old housewife, Adwoa Nyarko some concoction leading to her death. Her plea was not taken and will re-appear on November 30. Police Chief Inspector Robert Yitamky told the court that on January 17, this year, the deceased approached the accused to abort her five months old pregnancy.

He said after taking a concoction prepared by the accused, Nyarko (the deceased) complained of stomach pains and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

Chief Inspector Yitamky said it was at KATH that the deceased mentioned the name of the accused as the one who gave her some concoction.

He said after mentioning the name of the accused, the deceased died and a report was made to the police who arrested her.
