Court remands four people into prison custody for alleged murder

Cape Coast, Jan. 26, GNA – A Cape Coast Circuit court at on Friday, remanded four accused persons into prison custody for allegedly murdering one Mr Kofi Gyenin, 37, a farmer and resident of Ankase, near Abirem-Agona in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem District of the Central Region. The pleas of Kofi Abedu alias Popee 18, a student, Kofi Badu 25 mason, Nana Adu Kumah, 27 and Papa Akromah 23 both farmers and residents of Ankase were not taken and would re-appear on Thursday, February 8. Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Augustine Amonoo, told the court presided over by Mr Justice Beresford Acquah, that on January 21, this year, the accused persons went to the deceased’s garden in the evening and destroyed it because it was too close to the Ankase Primary School football park. He said Mr Gyenin confronted them and a quarrel ensued that turned into a fight during which Abedu, pushed the deceased down and he became unconscious. The prosecution said the deceased was rushed to the Abirem-Agona Health Centre but was pronounced dead on arrival. He said a report was made to the police at Abirem-Agona by one Solomon Akrong in the company of two other witnesses and the accused persons were arrested and after investigations charged with the offence. The corpse has been deposited at the Cape Coast Regional Hospital for autopsy. 26 Jan. 07
