Court remands five suspected robbers

A circuit court in Kumasi on Thursday remanded into prison custody five suspected armed robbers who attacked and shot Ahmed Yussif at Asawasi, a suburb of the city.

Mohammed Seidu, Faisal Yahaya, Mohammed Yahaya, Mubarak Yahaya Seidu and Prisca Kwame alias “Mad lion” have been charged for conspiracy and robbery.

The suspects, whose pleas were not taken, would re-appear before court on January 11, next year.

Police Chief Superintendent (Chief Sup ) Moses Atibillah told the court presided over by Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey that on December 16, the suspects allegedly robbed Ahmed Yussif of his computer, two cellular phones and GH¢295.00, after they had shot and wounded the victim.

The court heard that the victim was reported to be in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Chief Sup. Atibillah said Yussif was rudely awoken from sleep by the robbers, and when he attempted to resist their action, they shot him in the abdomen.

The prosecution said they absconded with Yussif’s computer, phones and cash, and he was rushed to the hospital by his neighbours.
