Ejisu (Ash), Oct. 9, GNA – A 20-year-old farmer from Juaben who allegedly murdered his brother was on Thursday remanded by a magistrate’s court at Ejisu.
James Torgidi Grushie’s plea was not taken and will re-appear on October 12.
Police Chief Inspector G.K. Torsu told the court presided over by Mr Noble Nketia that the deceased, George Acquah, was the accused person’s senior brother.
He said at about 0800 hours on October 4 this year, Grushie visited the deceased but did not meet him in the house and so waited for him till he returned.
Chief Inspector Torsu said Acquah’s wife had already prepared a meal so she served the two and left for the market. He said when Grushie failed to honour a request from Acquah to fetch water for the two to wash their hands before enjoying the meal a quarrel ensued between them.
Chief Inspector Torsu said during the quarrel the deceased leaned on a dwarf wall as the accused took a sharp cutlass and slashed his head, neck and stomach. He died instantly.
He said neighbours who heard the quarrel rushed to the scene only to find the deceased lying dead in a pool of blood and the blood stained cutlass, which the accused threw on the ground lying beside him. The neighbours, Chief Inspector Torsu chased the accused who took to his heels, arrested and handed him over to the police Chief Inspector Torsu added.
