Court remands farmer for defiling 12-year-old girl

Akim Swedru (E/R), Aug. 23, GNA – The Akim Swedru Circuit Court presided over by Mr Yaw Attah Sampong has remanded in police custody a farmer, Kwadwo Amakye, for allegedly having sex with a 12-year-old girl at Nkukuasa in the Birim South District.

Amakye, 21, whose plea was not taken, would reappear on August 25, 2011.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kingsley Antwi, said the parents of the victim who were the complainants, lived at Nkukuasa village near Akortikrom with the accused person.

On December 24, 2010 at about 20.00 hours when the victim was returnin= g from an errand, the accused person emerged from a secluded area, grabbed he= r and forcibly had sex with the girl. The victim informed her parents about the ordeal she had gone through and reported the case to the Akortikrom Unit Committee who also arrested an= d handed Amakye over to the Akim Swedru police.
