Court remands driver in custody for careless driving

Nkawie (Ash), Sept 7, GNA – The Atwima district court at Nkawie on Friday remanded a 30-year-old driver in prison custody for careless driving and parking at an unauthorised place. Kofi Poku pleaded guilty and will re-appear on September 12 for his sentence.

Police Chief Inspector Joseph Gabienu told the court that on September 4, this year, the driver, who plies the Kumasi-Nkawie route parked at an unauthorised place at a Shell petrol filling station at Abuakwa.

He said when the police tried to arrest him, he drove carelessly with the intent of knocking down one of the policemen. Chief Inspector Gabienu said the police, however, gave him a chase and succeeded in arresting him.
