Court remands driver for possessing narcotic drugs

A driver caught with 35 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis was on Thursday put before the Juaso Circuit Court.

Emmanuel Bukari had concealed this in his Mercedes Benz 207 bus.

He was ordered to be kept in prison custody after he had pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of narcotic drugs and he will re-appear on November 28.

Police Chief Inspector Joseph Obeng told the court presided over by Mr Justice S. K. Sarpong Appiah that a patrol team at Konongo intercepted the bus following a tip off.

He said during a search the dried leaves were uncovered. The prosecution said Bukari managed to slip through but investigations led to his arrest at Berekum.

The vehicle had since been impounded while samples of the seized leaves had been sent to the police forensic laboratory for testing.
