Court remands barber for defiling seven-year-old girl

Akim Swedru (E/R), Nov. 9, GNA – A 22-year-old barber, who allegedly defiled a seven-year-old girl has been remanded in prison custody, by the Akim Swedru circuit court in the Birim South District. George Kwame Dokye, who pleaded not guilty to defilement, would reappear on November 18. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kweku Appiah told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that the victim lives with her mother at Akim Aperade. He said at about 1830 hours on October 10, the victim who was in the company of her peer group, went to the accused person’s room to watch television. Inspector Appiah asked the other children to go and have their bath living behind the victim and a four-year-old girl in the room who was fast asleep. The prosecutor said when the children left the room, accused invited the victim onto his seat and forcibly had sex with her. When the victim returned home, she informed her mother about the incident who in turn reported the matter to the police who issued a medical form for the girl to be attended to at Akim Oda Government Hospital, while Dokye was arrested.
