Court remands an unemployed is custody for murder

Mankranso (Ash), Dec 8, GNA – The Mankranso magistrate court has remanded a 22-year-old unemployed for murder.

Kwabena Aning, whose plea was not taken, will re-appear on December 23. Police Chief Inspector Chris Osei Adwedee told the court that the accused and one Akosua Amankwaah had a one-and-a-half year-old child.

About a month ago Akosua Amankwaah divorced the accused and left their child in the care of Madam Yaa Boaduwaa, the accused person’s mother. Chief Inspector Adwedee said on November 23 Madam Boaduwaa left the child in the care of Maame Yaa and went to her farm.

The accused went for the child from Maame Yaa and sent it to his house at Abuakwa-Maakro near Kumasi, killed and buried it in an uncompleted house. Chief Inspector Adwedee said three days later some unit committee members reported the matter to the Abuakwa police who arrested the accused.

He said during interrogation, the accused confessed to killing the child but said he did so because his former wife was worrying him daily for money for the upkeep of the child.
