Court remands 18-year-old rapist

The Nsawam Circuit Court on Friday remanded Maxwell Kwadjo Dankwah, an 18-year-old man at Ahwerese near Nsawam into prison custody to reappear on May 14 for raping a 14-year-old student.

Dankwah alias Odass plea was not taken.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Alex Cosmos told the court presided by Madam Jennifer Ahmed Maryerb, that at about 2330 hours on April 20, the victim was returning home from a wake-keeping and when she got to a spot near Ahwerese Methodist church, the accused and one Kofi Tuna an accomplice who is on the run called her.

He said the victim refused to heed to their call and took to her heels but the accused person and his friend chased her and caught her and pulled her into an uncompleted building where they gagged her and forcibly had sex with her.

The prosecutor said a passer-by who went to the aid of the girl saw that she was bleeding profusely and sent her to the Nsawam Government Hospital.

Inspector Cosmos said Dankwah was arrested and during interrogation he confirmed the act and mentioned Kofi Tuna as an accomplice.**
