Court orders transfer of ‘killer’ teacher who murdered husband

A magistrate court in the Ashanti region has ordered the prison transfer of a female teacher, who allegedly murdered her husband in Kumasi.

Adwoa Oppong Pokuaa has being held at the Jachie Police Station since June 30, after she allegedly killed the husband at the Kumasi High School, but the court has ordered her transfer to the Kumasi Central Prisons after complaints by her lawyer that she is unable to breastfeed her six-month-old baby due conditions at the police cell.

The accused and the deceased who was also a teacher had been married for some time with three children. They allegedly had a misunderstanding on the day of the incident and in the heat of it, Pokuaa picked a kitchen knife and threatened to take her own life.

A scuffle however ensued between them when the husband, Bosompem, attempted to disarm her. In the struggle, she allegedly stabbed him in the ribs leading to his death at the ST. Michael’s hospital in Pramso.
