Court orders the arrest of Chief

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – A Circuit Court in Accra on Wednesday ordered the arrest of Nii Borketey Atuade, Chief of Baatsona in Accra, for failing to appear before it. Nii Atuade, who has been charged with defrauding by false pretences, was not in court when the case was called. The Prosecution said in 2000, Nii Atuade sold six plots of land to the complainant Madam Beatrice Boateng for 60 million cedis.

Soon after fencing the plots at a cost of seven million cedis, she conducted her own investigations on the six plots at the Lands Commission and found out that the plots had been sold to another person. Nii Atuade was informed about it and he promised to refund the money but had failed to do so.
