Court orders Sylvester Mensah’s Bank accounts to be released

The Financial Tax Court 1 has ordered that all Bank accounts of former Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) should be released.

Mr. Mensah’s bank accounts were frozen in January this year after an ex-parte application sought by the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC).

The order for Mr. Mensah’s Bank accounts to be released follows a request by the FIC made to the Financial Tax court.

According to FIC, after investigations were concluded, they could not associate Mr. Mensah with any illegality.

The Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) is investigating how some health facilities were certified to become service providers of the NHIA.

This is in connection with BNI’s investigations into allegations of false claims by some 10 medical facilities, with suspicions that the processes were compromised.

Mr. Mensah reported himself to the BNI on January 1 after he was invited for questioning.

The security agency is also investigating how tariffs for providers are calculated, vetted and the components of the membership and financial management.
