A man who allegedly swindled another person of his GH¢13,000.00 under a fake car deal, has been ordered by a Kumasi Circuit Court to be held in prison custody.
Jefferson Whyte Suleman, 38, pleaded not guilty to the crime and would make his next appearance on September 23.
The accused is the Occupation Manager and Welfare Service Provider of the Fair Aid International Ghana Limited, a company that deals in cars.
Police Chief Inspector Comfort Baffour-Kyei told the court presided over by Mrs Afia Adu-Amankwaa that the incident happened on October 16, 2012.
The victim, Paul Appiah, had been looking for a Sprinter Mercedes Benz bus to buy and was introduced to Suleman by a witness in the case, who put the price at GH¢40,000.00.
Appiah made a part payment of GH¢13,000.00 with the understanding that the remaining amount would be settled after he had taken possession of the vehicle.
Suleman in the presence of the Company’s System Administrator gave the assurance that the vehicle would be delivered within a week but failed to keep his word.
After several attempts to get him to deliver the vehicle had been unsuccessful he demanded a return of his money and that was also not forthcoming, forcing him to make a formal report to the police.
