Court orders demolition of unauthorised toilet

Nkawie (Ash), Aug. 24, GNA – A magistrate court at Nkawie on Monday ordered the demolition of an unauthorised toilet constructed by Madam Adwoa Addai of Abuakwa.

Madam Addai was dragged to the court for improperly sitting a pit latrine and non-compliance to abatement.

Mr Austin K. Dubick, the prosecutor for the Atwima-Nwabiagya District Assembly, told the court that sometime in March this year, Madam Addai improperly sited a pit latrine, which posed nuisance to public health.

He said the latrine had forced some people living in the area to stop sleeping in their bedrooms due to the obnoxious scent it emitted. Mr Dubick said this forced the Assembly to put Madam Addai before court where she was ordered to demolish the toilet and granted her a 20 million-cedi bail but she refused to comply with the order.
