Accra, Nov. 2, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court on Wednesday ordered the arrest of Michael Omari Wadie, a car dealer, for failing to appear before it to answer a charge of stealing levelled against him. When the case was called, Wadie was not in court so prosecuting Chief Inspector Peter Benin, therefore, prayed for a bench warrant to effect Wadie’s arrest.
The case of the Prosecution was that about eight years ago, Madam Rose Akyea, the complainant gave Wadie a Toyota bus to sell at a cost of 15 million cedis for her.
Prosecution said Wadie, who was then selling cars at Dworwulu, came to inform Madam Akyea that some one had offered 10 million cedis for the bus and asked her to release the documents covering the bus to him. Madam Akyea accepted the offer and gave the original documents of the bus but she did not set eyes on Wadie until she travelled abroad. However, when the complainant returned to Ghana early this year, she caused the arrest of Wadie. Prosecution said Wadie in his statement indicated that he sold the bus for six million cedis but Madam Akyea refused to accept the money.
