Court orders accused sent to hospital for medical examination

Nkawie (Ash), Oct 29, GNA – The Nkawie circuit court has ordered the police to send a 35-year-old woman to the psychiatric hospital for medical examination.

The court gave the order when Adwoa Darkowaa who has been charged with murdering a five-year-old girl appeared before it on Wednesday. Briefing the Ghana News Agency on the case, Police Chief Inspector Ben Antwi said on October 19 Darkowaa picked a quarrel with her husband, Kwasi Nyamekye, at Saakrom near Nkawie in the Atwima District. The woman picked up her husband’s cutlass and chased him but he ran away.

The victim and her grandmother saw Darkowaa running towards them and they also fled. But the little girl fell down and Darkowaa pounced on her and butchered her to death.
