Kumasi, Sept. 27, GNA – An 18-year-old barber has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour by a Kumasi Circuit Court for robbing a student.
Kwaku Baah pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, robbery and causing unlawful harm to his victim.
An accomplice, he declined to identify is, however, on the run.
Police Chief Inspector Isaac Mensah Apenteng told the court presided over by Justice William Boampong that the complainant, Isaac Opoku, is a student of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, whilst the convict is a barber.
At about 0130 hours on May 7, the complainant was on his way to the university campus from the Amakom Traffic Light, when Baah and his accomplice attacked and robbed him of his laptop computer, cellular phone and wallet containing Identification (ID) cards and cash of GH¢120.00.
This was after they had hit him in the head with an object, causing him to bleed profusely.
The prosecution said Opoku raised the alarm compelling a taxi driver to go his aid and managed to arrest Baah, but his accomplice escaped.
