Court jails porter 10 years for defilement

Aflao, Jan. 28, GNA – Prosper Asempah, 38, a porter was on Wednesday jailed 10 years for defiling a seven year old niece of a co-tenant. Asempah, alias Khulai Khan, initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty during the course of his trial.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kofi Frimpong told the court presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah that on November 10, last year, Asempah lured his victim into his room, while her aunt was away and sexually assaulted her and warned her not to disclose her ordeal to anybody.

He said Miss Peace Klomegah also a tenant happened to chance on the victim coming out of Asempah’s room.

Chief Inspector Frimpong said the victim initially could not say what she was doing in Asempah’s room when confronted by Miss Klomegah. He said Miss Klomegah again confronted the victim when she saw her washing blood from her private part. The victim then narrated her ordeal with Asempah, whom she said asked her to wash the blood on her body. Medical reports from the Aflao Hospital confirmed that the victim had been sexually assaulted.
